Tell us a little about yourself first.
I’m Lowella Cruz, a dedicated accountant deeply committed to both my family and my clients. As a hands-on mom and supportive wife, I balance homeschooling my youngest son, guiding my eldest as his confidante, and managing our household—all while working remotely. With extensive experience in finance and accounting, I find true fulfillment in helping clients make informed and confident financial decisions. I bring to my work the same values I cherish at home: integrity, attentiveness, and a genuine personal touch.
What was your profession before you became a VA?
I’m a Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of extensive experience in finance and accounting, serving both local and multinational companies across various industries. Throughout my career, I’ve held a range of roles that have shaped me into the professional I am today.
In 2017, after the birth of my youngest son, I felt a strong calling to spend more time with my family. At that time, I was working six days a week as a Senior Accounting Manager for a traditional local company. While I enjoyed leading my team and valued the work we did, the long hours made it difficult to be fully present for my growing boys.
In 2018, I took a step toward better balance by joining an accounting firm as a part-time financial analyst while still in my full-time job. I continued to pray and hope for the opportunity to work remotely full-time. In 2020, at just the right moment before the COVID lockdowns, I took a leap of faith and made the shift. That decision changed everything.
Today, I am filled with gratitude. I’m able to be present for my family while continuing to make a meaningful impact on my clients’ businesses and lives through the work that I love. It’s an answered prayer and a blessing I don’t take for granted.

Any message to future aspiring VA’s?
Becoming a successful virtual assistant requires dedication, continuous learning, and a genuine passion for helping others. My advice to anyone starting this journey is to embrace every opportunity to grow your skills and remain adaptable to change. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone—continuously upskill and learn new tools and techniques to stay relevant in this evolving field.
Building trust with your clients through professionalism and clear communication is key to long-term success. Remember, working remotely offers flexibility but also demands discipline and self-motivation. Stay organized, be proactive, and never hesitate to seek support or mentorship from those who have walked the path before you.
Most importantly, find balance. Nurture your personal life alongside your career, because a fulfilled and well-rounded individual is the best asset to any team.
